THERAPY PROTOCOLS &
ESTIMATED COST

The primary therapeutic services I offer are Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, and EMDR. These are all high-impact techniques that can help us access deep parts of ourselves. This can include connecting with emotions, processing memories, arriving at new perspectives, gaining powerful insights about our lives, and more.

The more time and energy we invest into this inward process, and the application of any emerging insights, the more likely we are to see results.

My encouragement is always for you to trust yourself about what you need, and I would love to support you however I can. At the same time, because this approach is unique, I also wanted to provide some guidance about how our work together could look.

Below is a list of the services I offer, the time requirements for each, and several different protocols that might help us make a plan that best addresses your needs.

If the information below is overwhelming, let's set up a time to talk (by completing this WAITLIST AND GENERAL INTEREST SURVEY)! And if we've already met, please feel free to send a message to Kenton@KentonBartlettCounseling.com with any logistics questions.

If this approach feels right, I'm looking forward to participating in this process with you!

SESSIONS

LetsGetStarted copy low res v1.jpg

INTAKE SESSION / CONSULTATION

Meeting for an initial conversation is the best way to get started! In this session we’ll get to know each other, talk through what you’re looking for, discuss any questions, and make a plan if you’d like to move ahead.

– Intake or Consultation Session (80 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

BRAINSPOTTING

This technique is great for processing a wide range of presenting concerns! Because it shares some similarities to psychedelic-assisted therapies, I require this before engaging in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. It’s also quite effective on its own, and the more time spent with this technique, the more of an opportunity you will have to process memories, emotions, and various stuck points.

brain-sides.jpg

– Brainspotting Introduction (50 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

– Additional Brainspotting Sessions (50 minutes) – As Needed

– Extended Brainspotting Sessions (75 or 100 minutes) – As needed

EMDR v1 low res.jpg

EMDR

If you often find yourself stuck on a challenging memory or negative belief about yourself, EMDR is an excellent tool for directly targeting both. Like other techniques, this one also works best in a series, however, you are always encouraged to trust yourself about how many sessions you would like to participate in.

– EMDR Introduction (100 minutes) – 2 Therapy Hours

– Additional EMDR Processing (100 minutes) – As Needed

CONVERSATION-ORIENTED SESSIONS

Including: Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Preparation / Integration / Consultation / Check-In / Follow Up

Making sure we have a foundation of trust is essential before moving ahead with more intensive therapy work. We can always meet for several conversation-oriented sessions to build trust before engaging in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, or EMDR, and going at your pace is the most important part of our work together.

Meeting for additional conversation-oriented sessions would also be great if you have any consultation questions, if we have done any work together in the past and you would like to check in or follow up for any reason, or if you would like to ‘integrate’ any past experiences with psychedelic medicine. I'm unable to engage in traditional, ongoing talk therapy, but would always love to set up a time to connect!

INTENSIVE THERAPY PROTOCOL: BRAINSPOTTING & EMDR

If you’re wanting to do deep inner work through Brainspotting and EMDR, this could be a powerful combination! The following protocol might also be useful for anyone who isn’t ready to engage in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy but wants to work on themselves in a substantial way.

This series of sessions is intended to create an opportunity to focus inward and process challenging memories, emotions, and any physical sensations that may be stuck in the body. I love these techniques because I’ve found them to be deeper and more effective than talk therapy, and they also share many similarities with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies.

Additionally, having more than one session of each offers an opportunity to see how these techniques may be working for you. Of course, we never know exactly how long it will take to reach your goals, as everyone’s circumstance is different, but this structure should offer an opportunity to process a lot of material and also get a sense of whether these tools are helping.

– Intake or Consultation Session (80 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

– Brainspotting (50 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

– EMDR (100 minutes) – 2 Therapy Hours

– Integration / Talk Therapy – 1 Therapy Hour

– Brainspotting (75 minutes) – 1.5 Therapy Hours

– EMDR (100 minutes) – 2 Therapy Hours

– Integration / Talk Therapy (50 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

– Ongoing Brainspotting or EMDR – As Needed

KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

UPFRONT COSTS

Because Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is a powerful and medically-involved form of therapy, it requires several additional logistics. These initial steps only need to be completed one time in order to engage in a series of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions.

KAP SESSIONS

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions are 4 hours long, and I highly recommend engaging in a 50-minute integration session afterwards, as making meaning from the experience is the most important part of the process. I also recommend thinking about this work as a series of approximately four Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions. Every KAP session is different, and completing a series of four will allow you to get a sense of how this approach is working for you, and decide if you would like to do more.

– KAP Session (240 minutes) – 4 Therapy Hours

– Integration (50 minutes) – 1 Therapy Hour

– Recommended to complete a series of approximately four KAP Sessions with integration

PROTOCOLS

OPTION 1:
INTUITIVE KAP PROTOCOL

– Cultivating self-trust is a key aspect of this therapy approach, and a flexible timeline allows you to trust yourself about what you need and when you need it. It also offers space and time to fully integrate every experience before moving on to the next one. Stretching sessions out over an extended

period of time may additionally allow for greater affordability. One drawback to this approach, however, is that an extended and unstructured timeline may decrease follow through.

If you’re looking to see what Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy has to offer, I highly recommend committing to four KAP sessions. Participating in a Month-Long KAP Intensive would be a great way to set aside a time in your life to truly invest in this work. This protocol offers a week between each session to allow time to process each experience, while proceeding at a consistent pace.

OPTION 4:
FULL IMMERSION KAP INTENSIVE

If you’re looking to combine the therapeutic intentionality of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy with the chemical benefits of Ketamine, this protocol could offer the best of both worlds. Proceeding with this option might be especially relevant for individuals who experience severe, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, or PTSD.

This protocol is outlined in The Ketamine Breakthrough, by Dr. Mike Dow & Ronan Levy, which is an excellent book and the best one I’ve read on Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy!

OPTION 5:
'SAMPLE PACK' INTENSIVE

If you’re interested in trying Brainspotting, EMDR, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, stacking all three techniques back-to-back would be a great way to experience each one. After seeing how you respond to these methods, individually, you can decide which one you would like to do more of, and we can make a plan together based on your preferences.

ESTIMATED COST

Design_Calculator_illustration copy v1.jpg

'GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE'

All healthcare providers are required to offer a ‘Good Faith Estimate’ of what clients might expect to pay for services rendered. Because I’m a mental health counselor, the primary cost is for our time together.

My full rate for our first 80-minute intake/consultation session and every therapy hour after that is $250, with sliding scale rates of $200 or $150 per hour. These fees account for the extensive and ongoing training required to offer these specialized services and the unpaid work involved in continuing to create accessible opportunities for psychedelic-assisted therapies in our area.

All services are pay-as-you go for one session at a time. However, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions must be paid for 7 days in advance, and intensive Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions must be paid for 14 days in advance due to length of time that must be reserved.

While it is extremely important to commit to the process of working on yourself, you are never required to attend any series of sessions and are encouraged to evaluate effectiveness as you proceed.

SESSION RATE & COST BREAKDOWN

Full Rate: $250 per 1 Therapy Hour

Sliding Scale: $200 per 1 Therapy Hour

Sliding Scale $150 per 1 Therapy Hour

To determine the overall cost, you would simply multiply the

hourly rate by the number of therapy hours you choose to engage in. If you are participating in Ketamine Asssited Psychotherapy, you would also need to add in the upfront costs associated with receiving your prescription of Ketamine.

The Frequently Asked Questions page includes a detailed cost breakdown of the Month-Long KAP Intensive and 'Sample Pack' Intensive at the full rate and lowest sliding scale option. The FAQ page also includes details on the rationale for these session fees and efforts to make this therapy more accessible.

A FEW FINAL NOTES

Footnotes Blue copy low res v1.jpg

FOOTNOTES

Even though extensive research with Ketamine has been conducted on its applications for mental health, it should be noted that Ketamine is not FDA approved to cure or treat any mental health condition, and its use for Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is an ‘off label’ use. While there is research suggesting benefits for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other concerns, there is a significant lack of data comparing various protocols. Accordingly, we don’t yet know ‘the best’ way to use Ketamine, and professionals in the field hold different opinions.

After working extensively with Brainspotting, EMDR, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, I have seen the best results in clients who commit to the process and engage in a series of sessions. Based on this clinical experience, active engagement with emerging data, and ongoing commitment towards improving Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, the proposed protocols here may offer structure to this process and a few options to help you make an informed decision about your journey.

If these choices feel overwhelming, the good news is they are all essentially doing the same thing!

These are all simply tools for accessing deeper parts of yourself, processing that material, and listening to the wisdom you have inside you already.
